“Access Denied” Created 2018. Part of the Face series.

“Access Denied”

Inspired in the summer of 2018. The sad stories of hopeful immigrants desperately seeking a new home in the United States deeply touched me. In addition to their access being denied, the act of separating parents and children left me in seriously disappointed in this country’s shift in direction and sense of compassion. The first face in my series reflected my feelings. This piece can be purchased in a variety of sizes as a canvas print, a matted giclee print or a note card.

Cards $6 individually or can be purchased as a part of the Set of Three for $15.

Canvas Prints are priced to size. The extra depth in framing give them a gallery appeal. Prices range from $75 - $150.

Matted 11'“ X 14” Giclee Prints sold at $75

“me Too”

Inspired by the “Me Too” movement and the older generation of women who stepped forward to add their own experiences. Many of these women held their tongue in fear of retribution. Behind the furs, pearls and power, some of these women hid a secret shame deep embedded in their past. This piece can be purchased in a variety of sizes as a canvas print, a matted giclee print or a note card.

“Stood Up”

This piece is the third of the Face Series. An attempt to create a piece less political and, yet, reflective of our our current society, this piece depicts a possible encounter with online dating. All dressed up and left stood up at the agreed upon meeting place. (Very ironic as my husband and I met through an online dating site. Still together and definitely not stood up.) This piece can be purchased in a variety of sizes as a canvas print, a matted giclee print or a note card.

“Mother Earth”

This piece is the fourth of the Face Series. Mother Earth started out to be much older but teaching middle school world geography has made an impact. Climate change is new and it will take a energetic, youthful Mother Earth to fight back; and she is. Our weather and the deterioration of low lying unprotected places are the first to scream. I’m afraid that it is hard not to let my passion for this world and its troubles from creeping into my art.

“The Grim Reaper”

This piece is the last of the Face Series. This piece was a study in designing a face from a back layer to the front. Originally, I envisioned the Reaper to emerge from woods filled darkness. As the Reaper evolved so did my background. I wanted to depict the Reaper looking from another world into ours. The Reaper started as a tortured soul and became more a collection of souls that scoured our world from a place much more nefarious. He’s much less tortured, more aggressive and a serious threat to even the most bustling, noisy and luminous places we know.

My favorite photographer has yet to capture the Reaper as he is handing on the walls of the Dane Gallery. When he comes home, prints will be available.
